This is a kind of pictorial drawing which involves the use of 30° set squares and the tee square. To make an isometric drawing, the shape of the object must have been roughly sketched out on a separate paper.
Step 1 : Set out the full shape as if it is to be drawn in a rectangular block .
Step 2 : Incline both the face and side at 30° to the horizontal plane.
Step 3 : Mark out the desired shape with paint lines, and where curved are involved use block method, and make a forehand sketch of the curve.
Step 4: Mark the required lunes visibly to produce the desired shapes. Another example , which gives the full detail of the theories of Isometric drawing and isometric projection, is shown in drawing. In isometric projection, the size is foreshortened, while in isometric drawing, the full dimension is achieved as this is normally marked full size physically. If an object us projected isometrically, the size obtained would be about 81/100 because of the fore shortening, and if drawn, the size will be SD dimensioned , that is 100/100.
