Cones deal mainly with curved surfaced. Their uses cannot be overemphasized, most especially in metal work. Students are expected to draw them using various methods of developments already described. Attempt should be made firstly to fold the various shapes in paper and secondly, to section them for possible intersection. My previous article explained a drawing of a cone. To produce the cone , the following steps should be followed.
Step 1 : Draw a line equal to the diameter of the base of the cone A O .
Step 2 : Determine the vertical height of the cone X
Step 3 : Draw a central line from X to cut line A O at P and project downwards.
Step 4 : From point O draw a line to form the side if the cone through X and repeat from X to A.
Step 5 : From point O and | as radius, draw a circle, which will form the base of the cone .
Step 6 : Divide the circle into twelve equal parts. This will form the plan view of the cone.
Step 7 : From O and radius OX on the cine, describe an arc of length D as shown in the development.
Step 8 : Mark out the divisions from the plan until 12 of such divisions are got on the arc of development.
Step 9 : Fold from O to O to obtain a solid cone.
