Tidal Movements and Waves



Tidal movements and waves affect the biotic community found in the intertidal zones of the seashore and river mouths. The intertidal zones lays exposed twice daily. Wave  action is important both in the intertidal and splash zones of the sea shore. Most organisms in these regions  are attached to the substratum or live in borrows. They also have hard body coverings to prevents evaporation of water from their bodies.

    In the open she, waves cause the aeration of the surface waters, enabling aquatic organisms to have sufficient supply of dissolved gases for their needs
