Deafness is the inability to hear. This may be temporary or permanent. It is usually due to:
• Wax blocking the ear canal.
• Damage to the tympanic membrane.
• Inability of the small bones to vibrate.
• Blocking of the tubes.
• Infection of the middle and inner ear.
• Damage to the sensory cells.
• Sudden , very loud noise and constant exposure to loud noise can cause deafness e.g. war situation.
