Mesophytes are land plants, such as the Hibiscus and cassava, that are found in an environment with an adequate water supply. They have well developed root and shoot systems. Their leaves are usually large and flattened. A waxy cuticle covers the body surface to minimize water loss. Stomata are present on leaves for gaseous exchange to occur.
