Conservation of Natural Resources

In a broad sense , natural resources include the whole of earth's natural environment. The important renewable natural resources are : air, water, soil, wildlife and forests. The non renewable resources are : fossils field and minerals.

    We gave been using the natural resources increasingly over the Yeats to provide us with food, energy and materials. This has resulted in

• a dangerous depletion of non renewable resources;

• renewable resources bring used up faster than they can be formed and ;

• pollution of the environment.

We have to conserve our natural resources, if our existence on this planet is to continue.

    The main purpose of conservation is to maintain a healthy, functioning biosphere that will also provide humans with their needs, including recreational activities.

Definition of conservation :

To conserve something means to protect it and keep it in a healthy condition. In the present context, conservation means ensuring a high quality of life for humans by the wise use of the natural environment. This definition has a broad scope. It includes

• the protection of nature, i.e wide life, forests, etc. To enrich our lives;

• the controlled production of useful materials from the living environment such as crop fields and fisheries;

• the controlled use of fossil fuels and minerals and

• the control or elimination (where possible) if environment pollution.

  We have to tackle the conservation problem

• indirectly through population control and reducing pollution; and

• directly through conserving natural resources.
